Conference finals highlight track and field competitions
A pair of teams ran in conference finals last week. Clinton ran at the Lenawee County Athletic Association finals at Onsted High School and Britton Deerfield hosted the Tri-County Conference finals.
Boys track and field
LCAA final: Gabe Nelson won the 3,200-meter run for Clinton at the Lenawee County Athletic Association finals last week at Onsted. The junior ran the event in 10 minutes, 39 seconds. Clinton finished second in the 1,600-meter relay (3:50) with Matt Urbanczyk, Weston Fortney, Caden Zbikowski, and Max Hampel. Grant Stockford finished second in the high jump (5’-10”) for Clinton.
TCC finals: Britton Deerfield finished seventh at the Tri-County Conference meet at home last week. The Patriots finished with 27 points in the meet. Steven Martin finished second in the pole vault (11’-0”) for BD.
Girls track and field
LCAA final: Lena Korte of Clinton won the shot put and the discus in the Lenawee County Athletic Association finals last week. She threw the shot 37 feet, 5 inches and the discus 109’-2”. Clinton finished second in the 400-meter relay (54.0 seconds) with Griffin Faulker, Brianna Underwood, Brynn Frederick, and Mia Struck. Underwood finished third in the 100-meter dash (13.0).
TCC finals: Britton Deerfield finished sixth at home during the Tri-County Conference finals last week. Madison won the event with 163 points and BD scored 28.5. The Patriots finished third in the 400-meter relay (56.7) with Alayna Salenbien, Alivia Salenbien, Andrea Martin, and Claire Molnar. Molnar was fourth in the long jump 13’-2.75” and Sara Bower finished fourth (6:24) in the 1,600-meter run.
